One-bit time reversal using binary pulse sequence for indoor communications

چکیده
Time reversal (TiR) is a pre-filtering technique that exploits the propagation channel state information in order to reduce the complexity of a user’s terminal in a communication system. TiR transfers the system complexity to the base station and has been proposed for ultra wideband (UWB) communications in highly dispersive multipath environments. In TiR-UWB two complex tasks must be carried out by the base station. The first is the estimation of the channel state information of the user’s terminal, and the second is the generation of the time reversed channel signal. In this paper, the use of a correlation receiver for the estimation of themultipath components (MPCs) of the propagation channel is proposed. Then, a novel binary time reversal (BTiR) method that makes use of the resolvable MPCs to simplify the transceiver tasks is introduced. When using BTiR the communication system can be regarded as a direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) scheme in which the spreading chips are provided by the propagation channel. The performance of the proposed BTiR scheme is assessed by using measurements of UWB spatial channels in a typical indoor environment. © 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

متن کاملTrellis-coded pulse-position modulation for indoor wireless infrared communications
We analyze the performance of trellis-coded pulseposition modulation (PPM) on indoor, wireless infrared channels. We show that maximum-likelihood sequence detection (MLSD) of trellis-coded PPM is very effective in mitigating the multipath dispersion on such channels. We present code search results for high constraint-length, rate-2/3, 8-PPM and rate-3/4, 16PPM codes. We provide bit-error rate c...

Abstracf-The bit error probability in a Rician fading channel is evaluated for indoor wireless communications considering Direct-Sequence Spread Spectrum Multiple Access (DS/SSMA) with Differential Phase Shift Keying (DPSK) modulation and two types of diversity: selection diversity and maximal ratio combining. The performance of the indoor radio system is also obtained in terms of outage probab...

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...

In this paper, we present and demonstrate a low complexity elastic wave signaling and reception method to achieve high data rate communication on dispersive solid elastic media, such as metal pipes, using piezoelectric transducers of PZT (lead zirconate titanate). Data communication is realized using pulse position modulation (PPM) as the signaling method and the elastic medium as the communica...
